Since you're already here, we're assuming you've pretty much zeroed in on India as the destination for offshoring your development requirements.

In this post, I will try to summarize the 13 offshore IT companies you should know about before embarking on your journey to find one in India.

In the interest of full disclosure, I would like to get some housekeeping out of the way.

TCS is THE leading full-service software company in India. The company is an offshoot of the Tata Group, arguably the largest and oldest conglomerate in India with diversified interests.

TCS began offering its services in 1968 and has grown to a multi-billion dollar software development company with global clientele including General Electric, United Airlines, Xerox, JP Morgan and Citi Bank among other prestigious names.

While 600,000 is certainly a massive employee count, many of them are pre-occupied with TCS's clientele, many of whom are much bigger.

So in-reality, TCS is not likely to entertain projects from companies who aren't at an enterprise level and even if considered, is likely to not be as cost-effective simply due to the prestige and reputation their services have garnered over the years.

LTI Mindtree

Headquartered in Mumbai, LTI Mindtree is also the IT services arm of a larger Indian conglomerate, Larsen & Tubro. The compant is typically engaged in EPC projects around real estate, utilities and large construction or energy project.

Interestingly, Mindtree was a Bangalore based offshore development centre that undertook software and IT projects across CPG, retail, media and hospitality clientele before L&T swooped into a hostile takeover.

Although Mindtree is a behemoth known today for its cutting edge prowess in cloud computing, Generative AI and database management technologies, it's origins is relatively recent and can be traced back to as early as 1999.

LTI is a listed company, and in 2022, the company boasted a revenue of $2.1 Billion.

The company is the official digital transformation partner to 700+ clients globally and handpicks the clientele they work with.

So unless you're an enterprise-level client with multi-million dollar software development and maintenance requirements, it's unlikely that you'll be able to work with them.
